Call to Worship:  My house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples, says the Lord. Thanks be to God.

Hymn:  All Are Welcome   click here

Call to Confession:  Sisters and brothers, God never forgets God’s promises; God’s covenant endures in each new generation. We are free to speak the truth about our lives because God’s faithfulness embraces us as we examine our hearts.

Prayer of Confession:  Holy God, we confess we have not been obedient to your will for us. We have sought justice for ourselves but neglected justice for others. We have insisted on our rights but have not lived rightly in our relationships. We have desired mercy for our sins, but we have not offered mercy to those who have sinned against us. By the power of your Holy Spirit free us from the prison of our disobedience. Help us to love as you have loved us that our lives may testify to your abounding grace through Jesus Christ. Amen.  (Please take a moment for silent confession.)

Assurance of Forgiveness:  Friends, the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable. Receive the gift of forgiveness and share that gift with others, in the name of Jesus Christ. Friends, believe the Good News! In Christ we are forgiven. Thanks be to God!

Time with Young Disciples: After watching the message from Ms. Cathy, talk about the times you have stood up for others when they were being teased or bullied. Talk about the times you have judged someone, as well. Then, talk about what it means to you that God is the one in charge, and that we are called to love, rather than judge others.

Click here to access the children's materials for your family, including two videos about Joseph, some bulletins, and coloring sheets. Because these materials are copyrighted, you will need to enter the user ID and password included in the Friday email.  After viewing the video - one of which we saw a few weeks ago - talk about the way that Joseph experienced very bad things, but how he was called to love and forgive, rather than judge his brothers, in the end.

Scripture Prayer: Enlightening God, the unfolding of your Word gives light and provides wisdom to all who seek your truth. Open our minds and hearts by the presence of your Holy Spirit, that the mystery of your heavenly realm is made evident here on earth. Amen.

Romans 11:1-2a; 29-32  I ask, then, has God rejected his people? By no means! I myself am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham, a member of the tribe of Benjamin.  2a God has not rejected his people whom he foreknew.

29 for the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.  30 Just as you were once disobedient to God but have now received mercy because of their disobedience, 31 so they have now been disobedient in order that, by the mercy shown to you, they too may now receive mercy.  32 For God has imprisoned all in disobedience so that he may be merciful to all.

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. Sending:  Take heart; have no fear; live by faith. Dare to respond to the invitation of Jesus Christ. We believe God remembers us and saves us. We want to follow where Jesus leads. There are signs of God’s presence on every hand; there is evidence of God’s favor all around us. God is with us at the morning watch; God is present in the darkest night. Live with gladness in a nation richly blessed. Live with generosity for the sake of all people. We will remember the abundance of God’s love. We will share the heritage we have received.
