Call to Worship:  Beloved of God, the winter is past, the flowers appear on the earth, the time of singing has come. Let us lift our voices in praise to our Creator.

Hymn:  We Gather Together   click here

Call to Confession:  Let us confess our sins to God, whose loving-kindness endures forever.

Prayer of Confession:  Holy One, we confess to you and to each other that we are tired and weighed down by the mistakes we have made, even in our closest relationships with our friends, our spouses, and our partners. We give this burden to you, mindful of Jesus’ promise that he will give us rest. We trust in you. Amen.  (Please take a moment for silent confession.)

Assurance of Forgiveness:  Friends, hear the good news of our faith: God is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, showing compassion to all. Friends, believe the Good News! In Christ we are forgiven. Thanks be to God!

Time with Young Disciples: After watching the message from Ms. Cathy, talk about a time that you did something you knew you shouldn't have been doing. What happened? Why was it hard to do the right thing? How did you feel when you did what you weren't supposed to do? How would it feel if you were never forgiven for your mistakes? How does it make you feel that Jesus forgives us?

Click here to access the children's materials for your family, including a Holy Moly video, a family guide, and some worship bulletins. Because these materials are copyrighted, you will need to enter the user ID and password included in the Friday email. This week's video introduces you to the story of Isaac and Rebekah. After watching the video, talk about the ways that Rebekah trusted God. Did she do what God asked? What happened as a result? Is it easy or difficult for you to trust God? Why?

Scripture Prayer:  Loving God, as we hear your Word this day, send your Spirit to equip and inspire us, that your grace-filled hospitality may be the center of our lives. Amen.

Romans 7:15-25a  15 I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate.  16 Now if I do what I do not want, I agree that the law is good.  17 But in fact it is no longer I that do it, but sin that dwells within me.  18 For I know that nothing good dwells within me, that is, in my flesh. I can will what is right, but I cannot do it.  19 For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I do.  20 Now if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I that do it, but sin that dwells within me.  21 So I find it to be a law that when I want to do what is good, evil lies close at hand.  22 For I delight in the law of God in my inmost self,  23 but I see in my members another law at war with the law of my mind, making me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members.  24 Wretched man that I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death?  25 Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

If you are feeling vulnerable, have a specific need for assistance, or are experiencing financial distress, please reach out to your deacon or Pastor Dave at 916-652-4851.  For prayer requests, email pastor@shepherdpres.org.
